Matt J. Wengert, CMIR
With over 12 years experience in the Investment Recovery industry, Matt Wengert is President of Certified Investment Recovery Inc., an Investment Recovery management and consulting company. He was the Vice President and Founding Partner in Investment Recovery Management, Incorporated prior to the sale of his company to Zone trader.Com, Inc. in 2000. Matt was the Director of Investment Recovery Operations for Zone Trader.Com following the merger of the two companies. Wengert holds a B.S. in Environmental Science.

Paul F. Wengert, CMIR Fellow
Our Director of Business Development has been in this industry for over 20 years. Paul is one of only 3 professionals in our industry to hold the distinguished honor of CMIR Fellow. Paul was the Director of Investment Recovery and Recycling for Phillips Petroleum Company from 1985 to 1994. He managed a 7-man team that was responsible for the identification, inventory, redeployment (transfer) and sale of surplus inventories and equipment from domestic and international facilities. The scope of responsibility included all refineries, chemical plants, pipeline companies, plastics plants and gas generation plants. The financial contribution from the Investment Recovery Department from redeployments and asset sales ranged from $8 million to $20 million dollars per year and averaged $14 million.
He founded Investment Recovery Management, Inc. (“IRMI”) in 1994. He grew his company from 2 people to 26 full-time employees, plus temporary and contract workers. IRMI was an outsource investment recovery service provider contracted to long-term (one year or more) contracts to multi-plant fortune 1000 companies. Clients included Transco energy, Mobil Oil, Compaq Computer, Sun Oil, Conoco, Phillips Petroleum, Kraft Foods, and U.S. Department of Energy, ARCO Petroleum, K-N Energy, Commonwealth Edison of Chicago and Occidental Chemical. Gross contribution to client’s recovery of asset value, over 6 years, was approximately $30 million.
Paul is a past president of the Investment Recovery Association and has been a member for 20 years. He authored and teaches the Asset Disposition training course for the Investment Recovery Association’s Managers’ certification course. He holds both a B.S. and M.S. in Business. He is a 20 year veteran of the Air Force.

Joe M. Robertson, CMIR — Regional Manager
Joe is a region manager, and has been involved in the investment recovery industry for 20 years. He was the Manager of Investment Recovery for Texas Utilities (TXU) from 1987 to 2003. Joe established TXU’s domestic investment recovery program, and was responsible for directing a work group that identified and inventoried surplus equipment, materials and supplies, and optimized returns from their sale, redeployment or other disposition while minimizing exposure to product and environmental liability. His responsibilities included all personal property assets associated with nuclear, coal and gas-fired generating plants, and electric and natural gas transmission and distribution facilities. The efforts of his organization contributed an average annual $10 million to the company’s bottom line.
Joe has experience with companies offering metal recycling, auctioneering, and data services. He is a past president of the Investment Recovery Association, and has been a member for 20 years. He has served a total of 10 years on the Board of Directors of that association. Joe holds degrees in Electrical Engineering Technology and Business Administration (Accounting) from the University of Texas-Arlington.
Joe is a Certified Manager of Investment Recovery (CMIR) and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Mark Mendel, B.S. M.E
Mark is an Account Manager and a power generation engineering professional for Certified Investment Recovery.
Mark graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is also a graduate of General Electric’s Industrial and Power Systems 3 year Technical Marketing Program. He was a Generation Account Manager for General Electric for 5 years. Responsibilities included development of $45 million in equipment and service contracts.
Working with Unicom Holdings (Exelon), he was responsible for the marketing and sales of over $200 million in assets and the development of strategic project portfolios.
As an independent contractor he marketed and sold $40 million in excess power generation equipment for a fortune 200 client.
As an Account Manager for CIR, Mark is responsible for customer service, inventory and cataloging of client’s assets, marketing and negotiating surplus assets and complete plants for fortune 500 companies in the utility industry.
